Met trots presenteert het Centrum voor Aangeboren Hartafwijkingen het programma voor het 6e Utrecht Sessions’ over aangeboren hartafwijkingen, van 31 januari – 2 februari 2019, met als onderwerp Tetralogie van Fallot.
Al in het jaar 1888 beschreef de Fransman Étienne-Louis Arthur Fallot (1850-1911) de combinatie van aangeboren afwijkingen bij “de blauwe baby”, die we sindsdien kennen als Tetralogie van Fallot. Ondanks een goede levensverwachting voor kinderen die in de huidige tijd worden geboren, blijkt dat het behandelen van kinderen en volwassenen met een Fallot nog altijd een bijzondere uitdaging kan zijn.
De eerste dag van ons congres (donderdag 31 januari) is Nederlandstalig; deze dag is bedoeld voor ouders, volwassen patiënten, verwijzers en onze zorgpartners. Op 1 en 2 februari zal een internationaal Engelstalig symposium plaatsvinden waarvoor apart ingeschreven kan worden. Met een fraaie lijst van nationale sprekers voor de donderdag zijn we er zeker van dat we ook dit jaar weer een interessant en leerzaam symposium kunnen neerzetten.

We would like to invite you to our 6th ‘Utrecht Sessions’ on Congenital Heart Disease, which will take place on February 1st and 2nd 2019 at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital/University Medical Center in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
After a highly successful 5th Utrecht Sessions on Transposition of the Great Arteries, this year we will provide an overview of the state-of-the-art management of patients with Tetralogy of Fallot.
We will follow our last year’s concept to discuss the entire spectrum from diagnostics to therapy, from prenatal to adulthood. As in previous years an international faculty of experts from Europe and North America will guarantee stimulating lectures and interactive discussions.
The main topics will be:
• Pathology specimens in Fallot
• Imaging in Fallot: from fetal Echo and CMR to imaging strategies in the adult
• Treatment algorithm: from premature newborns to adults
• PA-branch stenosis after Fallot: to patch or to stent
• Percutaneous versus surgical options for pulmonary valve (re-)placement
• Fate of the aortic valve
• Rhythm disorders and treatment in Fallot
• Future perspectives from tissue engineering to 3D flow analysis
To complement the scientific programme there will be a Social Dinner on February 1st, 2019.
